Honest comparison

You can use Claude Code. We use Claude Code. Here's what Origin8 adds — and when it's not worth it.

If you're a senior engineer building one product, Claude Code is great. If you're a founder running a business, you need persistence, decisions, and metrics — not just a chat window.

What Claude Code is great at

We pay for it. Anthropic's coding agent is a serious tool. Specifically:

  • One-shot code generation in a known codebase
  • File-level edits, diffs, refactors
  • Running shell commands, tests, linters in your terminal
  • Stateless coding sessions with strong tool use

If your need ends there, use Claude Code. Don't pay us.

May 2026 — addressed directly

“Doesn't Anthropic publish their own playbook for this?”

Yes. In May 2026 Anthropic published an official playbook for building companies with Claude Code — covering the “decide what to build” zone, not just the build itself. It is good. You should read it before deciding whether you need us.

The difference, plainly:

  • The playbook is advice you have to apply. You read it, then you have to remember it, structure your prompts to it, hold yourself to it across every fresh session.
  • Origin8 is the workflow itself.Recall (project memory) → Inject (specialist context) → Generate (cited answer) → Persist (decision log with reversals). Across six specialist roles. You don't apply the playbook; the product enforces it.

If you'll genuinely apply the playbook session-after-session, you don't need us. Most founders won't — that's not a slight, it's why workflows beat advice. We'd rather you find that out honestly than buy us and resent the wrapper tax.

When Origin8 is the wrong tool

Counter-positioning is part of the trust narrative. We'd rather you find the right tool than buy ours and resent it.

You're a senior engineer who codes daily

Claude Code in your terminal will be faster. We orchestrate. We don't out-type you in your own editor.

You're building a one-weekend project for fun

Free tools — Bolt, Lovable, Replit — are a better fit for a weekend hack. Pay us when there's a business to remember.

You don't have a business yet

Origin8 helps you decide what to build and remember why. If there's no decision pile and no metrics, there's nothing for us to persist.

The honest fit

When Origin8 is the right tool

  • You're a non-technical founder who needs decisions, not code
  • You're a technical founder who keeps losing context across weeks
  • You've been burned by AI tools that forgot, hallucinated, or exposed your data
  • You want a single auditable history of every business decision you make
